Summer Share 2011 – Week 15

Pasta, Butter, Red Peppers, Winter Squash, and Apples

It is starting to feel like fall outside, so this week we’ll embrace some fall flavors.  The highlight of this week’s bag is a pumpkin sage linguini from Ohio City Pasta. This delicate pasta will taste just fine tossed with some butter and roasted winter squash.

Alternatively, the roasted cherry tomatoes from a few weeks back would unite fall and summer in perfect harmony in this pasta.  The cherry tomatoes were oven roasted with fresh garden herbs, olive oil, and fig vinegar.  They will be sold by the jar at the back of the truck for $5.50.  Simply cook the pasta, toss in a jar of the roasted cherry tomatoes and top with grated Parmesan cheese.  Yumm.

While we try to hold on to summer as long as possible, we will also feature some delicious heirloom tomatoes, yellow wax beans, eggplant, and sweet red peppers.

Finally, we are having some issues with our hosting company today.  As a result the www.myfrehsfork.com site is currently not operational.  This may effect add-on orders. If you had an add-on order, it may not come in this week, depending on how long the site is down.  If not, we’ll be sure to have them available next week.

Small CSA:

1 lb pumpkin sage linguini

2 lb log of butter made from grass-grazed, organic milk

2 ct eggplant

2 red peppers

2 ct winter squash (varieties include butternut, acorn, spaghetti, honey bear, heart of gold, and a few more)

Approx 1.5 lbs heirloom tomatoes

1 lb yellow wax beans

Quarter peck Gala apples

1 head leaf lettuce

 

 

Large CSA: the small package plus the items below

2 lbs San Marzano roma tomatoes

1 head broccoli

2 ct candy onions

1 head cabbage

 

Vegan Substitutes:  in place of butter

I know most of our vegan customers are OK with the pasta.  If you aren’t, please ask at the back of the truck and we will have a true vegan substitute available.
