Winter Share 2011-12 – Week 12

Steaks, concord grape jam, swiss cheese, and more

This week we have a few new products. First, a Concord Grape Jelly made by Diane at Humble Pie Baking Company, using some of the concord grapes we had back in the fall. I’ve been holding onto this for a few months trying to figure out where to fit it in…well now is as good of time as any!

We also have some tasty 100% grassfed steaks this week. Each bag will get about 12 to 16 oz of steak, either bone-in ribeye or strip steak. We will have extra sirloin steaks available for sale at the back of the truck. Do to the cost of the steaks, we can’t afford to put two in the bag or it eats up most of the budget (we’ll sell sirloins at $10 lb).

The swiss cheese this week is also a new product. It is something that my producer has been out of stock on for close to a year. It is made by Guggisberg for an organic Amish coop called Heritage Grass Farms. I’m very excited to see this cheese again.

Also, this week marks the first ramps we’ll see. Ramps are wild leeks that traditionally grow in spring. More info will be in this week’s newsletter about how to use them.

Here’s all of this week’s bag contents:
