Summer Share 2011 – Week 5

Ground Beef, Cherries, Yogurt, Beets, Carrots, and More

This week with Independence Day around the corner we will feature some picnic-friendly items.  For the newsletter, we’ll have some great recipes for beets, all derived from the Beet Beet Revolution event we had at the Grovewood Tavern earlier in the month.
This week’s contents are:

Small CSA:

1 bunch beets with tops

1 bunch carrots with tops

1 head cabbage

2 ct zucchini

2 ct squash

1-2 cucumbers depending on size

1 quart yogurt

1 head bibb lettuce

Approx 1.5 lbs tomatoes

Approx 2 lbs sweet black cherries

1 lb grassfed ground beef

Large CSA: the small package plus the items below

1 bunch kale

1 bunch spinach

1 bunch swiss chard

1 rack pork spareribs (approx 2.5 lbs)

1 lb Chorizo sausage links

Vegetarian Substitutes: in place of ground beef

2 packs luna burgers

Vegan Substitutes: in place of the beef and yogurt

Vegetarian Substitute Above

Apricots*

*It is highly unlikely that I’ll get shorted the small amount of apricots that we need to fill the vegan orders, but we won’t know for sure until they are picked on Wednesday night.  If we don’t get apricots, I’ll get some beans or raspberries.
