Summer Share 2011- Week 10

Gouda, Cherry Tomatoes, Hot Hungarian Peppers, Tomatoes, and Patty Pan Squash

This week is one of my favorites because it is easy cooking!  The patty pan squash is one of my favorites.  It is a round, disc shaped squash that is bright yellow.  It has a sweet taste and thick flesh.  It can be chopped and used as any other squash (roasted veg) or you can scoop out the inside, stuff it with sausage, and bake it for an easy, tasty meal.

To go with the squash this week, we will have 1 lb of ground Italian sausage and a half lb of grassfed gouda cheese from Mayfield Road Creamery.

This week’s bag also has lots of color with some beautiful cherry tomatoes, hot hungarian peppers (banana peppers), slicing tomatoes, and leeks.

On the sweet side, we’ll have blueberries and peaches.  This week, since we have had peaches a lot lately, I’ll give you some ideas for how to use the peaches (other than just snacking).  If anyone has any good recipes they want to share, please email them back to me.   This will be the last time we have peaches for a few weeks as canteloupe and watermelon are on the horizon!
